what are tacky mats?
Tacky mats are multi-layered, low-profile mats made up of 30 easy-peel layers with an adhesive surface. If you are entering a clean environment into which you do not wish to transfer the dust and dirt from the bottom of your shoes, simply walk over a tack mat and the dirt from your soles will stick to the tacky surface, significantly reducing the amount of foot-borne contamination you will walk into the clean area.
After the mat has been walked over a number of times, the dirt from your shoes will stick to the surface of the mat and it will become non-sticky. When this happens, just peel off the polluted layer and you will have a fresh sheet to use. To facilitate peeling off each layer, there is a peel tab which is also numbered (1-30) so you can record how many sheets you are using.
The bottom of the mat has an adhesive layer so you can fix the mat directly onto the floor. As they are low profile (3mm height) there is no need for a frame. However, if you wish to be able to pick the mat up, to clean under it or to move the mat, it is recommended that you use a frame as the bottom of the mat will lose it's tackiness if it has been stuck down previously.
The tacky mat has a wide variety of applications:
- Builders can prevent treading dirt from outside, inside
- Plasterers can contain plaster dust in the room in which they are working
- Car showrooms can use the mats to prevent dirt being transferred into the showroom and into the cars
- Computer rooms, cleanrooms and laboratories benefit from the reduction of particles being introduced into the environment.
The mats come in three sizes; Small measuring 460x915mm, Medium measuring 460x1140mm and Large measuring 915x1140mm. The mats have 30 layers and can be purchased in cases of 8 mats. The small and large mats come in a choice of either blue or white. It is recommended that you use white mats where dirt will be more visible on a white surface, in a laboratory for example, and blue mats are used where dirt is lighter, like plaster or brick dust.
